Description

This exquisite late 19th-century chandelier masterfully blends Victorian and Neoclassical aesthetics, crafted in bronze with eight captivating lights. The etched glass shades are artistically designed, with four resembling bellflowers and four evoking torch flames, creating an alternating pattern throughout the fixture. Every aspect of the chandelier highlights Neoclassical iconography, from the central column adorned with classical Greek dancers playing Kallisthenia cymbals to the arms featuring columnar detailing, classical vases, and elegant foliate scrolls. The top is beautifully shaped with bunches of acanthus leaves.

Neoclassicism draws inspiration from the classical grandeur of ancient Greece and Rome. The Victorian Neoclassical style greatly influenced the art and culture of the era, creating a rich visual language. This stunning chandelier will make an impressive statement in any space.

Condition

Rewired to meet US electrical standards, it takes 8 base-size lights, incandescent or LED. This fixture requires a canopy and chain which is not included. Three feet of wire at the top can be adjusted to the preferred height.

Two of the metal arms have dents and dings near the junction with the body, making them unnoticeable. Three of the six cymbals have been replaced. Only one glass shade had a flea-bit chip. Aside from these minor imperfections, the chandelier is in good condition for its age (see images).
