Circa 1800’s Pierre-Jules Mene French “Greyhound” Signed Sculpture. This extraordinary, bronze greyhound dog sculpture was modeled by Pierre Jules Mene during the late 1800s. Pierre-Jules MĂȘne was a French sculptor, animalier, and zoologist. He is considered one of the pioneers of animal sculpture in the nineteenth century. This is an exceptional example of his time. This bronze sculpture depicts a greyhound dog in a playful pose, looking down with its left paw raised. This sculpture is stamped “P J Mene”. The detailing of this elegant dog is absolutely exquisite, and his pose is so regal. He is the perfect size to fit beautifully on a mantel and to draw all the attention in the room directly to him.
