Description

Circa 1800’s French Greyhounds Signed Sculpture By Antoine-Louis Barye. Antoine-Louis Barye was a Romantic French sculptor most famous for his work as an animalier, a sculptor of animals. Barye excelled in representing animals in their most familiar attitudes. Barye’s talent for rendering dynamic tension and exact anatomical detail is especially evident in his most famous bronzes, those of wild animals struggling with or devouring their prey. As seen in this sculpture you can see how realistic the body shape of the greyhounds looks. A beautiful piece to display in a study, office, or living room as a mantelpiece.
