Description
This pair of Mid Century midnight amber Murano table lamps were made in the style of Barovier & Toso, a renowned Murano glasshouse. The lamps were crafted from fluted blown glass sections stacked atop each other in a multi-tier bulbous silhouette. They have a gilt bronze that resembles pointed flower petals with veining. The dark amber was achieved by adding selected metal oxides to the silica during melting. To achieve the colors, an incredible amount of accuracy is required in terms of proportions and timing.
The Barovier family from Murano, Italy, have been world leaders in glass production since the Middle Ages. The Company was founded in 1295. In 1939 the company merged with the Toso family to become “Barovier & Toso”. The glasshouses on the island of Murano, like Barovier & Toso, are famous for florid glassworks made of pincered and molded blown glass.
These lamps are in excellent vintage condition, preserving their original charm and functionality. They are functional lighting pieces and works of art, making them a perfect addition to any sophisticated interior.
