Description
This Circa 1940 Italian Parchment furniture set may be used as either a sideboard with side tables for a dining area or a chest of drawers with nightstands for a modern bedroom.
One of the small cabinets has a one-door compartment with a shelf. The other small cabinet has three parchment veneered drawers. The large piece combines the one-door compartment with two shelves and a four-drawer design. Hence, this unique mixture of beech and parchment result in an exceptional Midcentury design.
Parchment is thin animal skin used to veneer furniture. The skin for parchment typically comes from sheep, calf, goat, or boar. However, it can be from other animals. Used since antiquity, it made a resurgence during the art deco period, as many furniture designers looked to the exotic for inspiration.
