Description

A luxurious midcentury French Louis XV style gilt brass and crystal Maison Jansen chandelier. Maison Jansen is known as the first Paris-based interior design firm founded in 1880 by Jean-Henri Jansen that became global, having clients all over Europe, North American, Latin America, and the Middle East. This glamorous chandelier begins with a scalloped and flared, cup-shaped, crown that sets the stage for the eye-catching scrolling arms with an acanthus-leaf motif. These stylish arms lead to scalloped, flared, and fluted brass candle cups, encrusted with crystal beads and etched crystal prism drops. The stem is adorned with scalloped pendeloques and rosettes. Further embellishment is done with beaded crystal swags. This fixture will add individual style to a room that needs imagination and glam!

Condition

This chandelier is rewired to meet US electrical standards and takes five candelabra base light bulbs. Each light bulb can use up to a maximum of sixty watts. We recommend using LED lights because they help preserve the antique fixture longer. Antique chandeliers/fixtures may have to be adapted to modern houses. Please check with your electrician or contractor for additional specifics on installing antique chandeliers/fixtures. The top crown does not go flush on the ceiling. It requires a canopy and chain that are not included.

It is superbly mold-made and hand cast. The gilt tole cups have chased grooves and scalloped edges. The chandelier is made of different metals but is entirely gilt. The frame is bronze, the extensions are brass. But the bobeches and crown are tole. There is wear and tiny spots of oxidation on the bobeches. The fixture is in good condition for its age
