Description
A finely made Louis XV–revival guéridon (occasional side table), late 19th century, crafted in mahogany with gilt‑bronze (ormolu) detailing and standing on slender cabriole legs terminating in gilt‑bronze sabots. The circular top is a richly figured pink Apuan breccia marble, likely Breccia Medicea (Seravezza), with cream calcite and charcoal veining. The apron is decorated with gilt‑bronze mounts and appliqués—acanthus leaf reliefs, laurel vines, and a central rocaille shell—and the outline is further defined with brass banding. The warm mahogany and lively stone mix easily with French traditional, Belle Époque/Napoleon III, Hollywood Regency, and eclectic contemporary interiors. Unsigned, yet executed to a high standard consistent with premier Belle Époque atelier work.
