Description
This handcrafted, gold-infused cristallo Murano floral chandelier features four undulating scroll arms holding bobeches that look like blooming open petal flowers. The bulbous center column is adorned with blooming details, stylized with daffodils and leaves. Additional detailing includes scroll stems, twirling leaf ends, and rigaree trim, showcasing a masterful flair in glass craftsmanship.
The glass houses on the island of Murano are renowned for their highly ornamented glass chandeliers made of pincered and molded blown glass. This elegant chandelier is a vintage, pared-down interpretation of the ‘Ca’Rezzonico’ style of chandeliers created by Giuseppe Briati in the 18th century. The ‘Ca’Rezzonico’ style is named after the Venetian palace, now a public museum dedicated to 18th-century Venice, where Briati’s initial masterpiece resides. The body and arms of this piece are made of clear, colorless glass enhanced with 24-karat gold leaf. The subtle glints of gold concentrated on the trims and details mimic the look of sunbeams when lit. Otherwise, the translucent crystalline glass blends seamlessly with any color palette.
This piece demonstrates a delicate Baroque-style design that remains beloved by many, resulting in a shimmering floral centerpiece.
