Description

This exquisite four-panel stained glass screen divider embodies the design sensibilities of the Art Deco era. The outer panels feature iconic flapper designs, capturing the vibrant spirit of the Roaring Twenties. The interplay of rich colors and flowing lines resonates with historical artistry. It showcases a stunning combination of translucent, semi-opaque glass and glue chip glass, adding depth and texture, while the lead frame supports provide structural integrity.

To beautifully preserve this early 20th-century glass, bespoke reversible frames were custom-crafted from contemporary maple and macassar veneer, engineered specifically to house and protect the antique panels while ensuring durability and modern aesthetic appeal. Equipped with removable brass hinges, this custom framing system offers exceptional versatility, allowing you to display each panel individually if desired. Lastly, the frames can be removed entirely, allowing the piece to revert to standalone stained glass panels for architectural or window installation.

The early 20th-century leaded glass panels exhibit historic character appropriate for their age. The panel featuring the lady in purple and brown has an inconspicuous hairline crack near her hip that runs toward the original metal frame, ending in a tiny chip, flush against the border. The antique lead framing shows slight, age-related warping throughout, which is more noticeable near the bottom of the panels.

The custom, protective Macassar-veneered maple frames show light surface scratches and minor wear from gentle handling. Because this piece does not fold flat and the bespoke frames were engineered to be entirely removable and reversible, the panels must be completely unhinged and disassembled for safe transit. Disassembly should begin from the right side, and reassembly should start from the left. The custom brass hinges have been numbered for your convenience. Please refer to the images for detailed, close-up views of these specific areas.

Total of 4 panels. Each panel: Height= 65.25 in. Width=22 in. Depth=2 in. 25 lbs. each, 100 lbs. total.

Important Handling and Logistics Note: This fragile piece does not fold flat and must be disassembled into individual components for safe transit. The final shipment consists of four separate flat-packed panels transported side by side. The dimensions provided in the fields above reflect a single individual panel profile. White-glove transit carriers must pad-wrap or custom-crate each panel individually to prevent glass stress, and the pieces must be handled entirely unhinged.
