Description
Early 19th Century continental “The Runaways” oil on canvas. This is a wonderful unsigned example of 19th Century Romanticism that captures the mood and emotions of weariness and hope.
Embarking on a path that seems unknown, two young girls wearily rest amidst their journey. The older girl, full of faith and courage, holds her rosary while looking back with nostalgia at the town they left. The younger girl shows an innocent naivete. Two different experiences as they face the sunset of their lives.
