Description
This Mid Century Murano glass table lamp is made in the style of Barovier & Toso, a renowned Murano glasshouse. The lamp was crafted from fluted blown glass sections stacked atop each other resulting in a multi-tier bulbous silhouette.
The hand-blown aventurine Murano glass is a pale peach color with gold flecks mixed into the fluted parts of the lamp that give added dimension. Aventurine, as its name suggests, is a decoration made by “aventitius” surface effects with flecks of copper or gold, a 15th Century technique. The body also exhibits a soft twirling veining, resting a subtle variant texture throughout.
The Barovier family from Murano, Italy, have been world leaders in glass production since the Middle Ages. The Company was founded in 1295. In 1939 the company merged with the Toso family to become “Barovier & Toso”. The glasshouses on the island of Murano, like Barovier & Toso, are famous for florid glassworks made of pincered and molded blown glass.
Crafted in the renowned glass houses of Murano, this lamp is a testament to centuries of glassmaking excellence. Its intricate details and craftsmanship make it a standout piece, perfect for enhancing the elegance of any space, whether traditional or contemporary.
