Description
This elegant mahogany George III English demilune table has delicate inlaid designs that complement the metamorphic qualities of the piece.
This table is crafted primarily from mahogany, which gives it its natural deep and warm mocha coloring as well as its exceptional durability.
The Georgian era was characterized by its refined craftsmanship and Neoclassical influences, showcasing the sophistication of the late 18th century. Beloved for its aesthetic beauty and exceptionally high quality, Georgian furniture is arguably the most sought-after and enduring furniture in British history.
The top is crafted in a half-moon shape, called ‘demilune.’ These tables were popular during the time, acting as an accent table or card table. This finely crafted piece has an elegant rounded front skirt and another demilune leaf that converts to a perfect round table. To transform the demilune into a round tea table, the gateleg needs to be positioned perpendicular to the front leg of the demilune, with brass pulls on each side before the first leaf is lowered onto the bracket while forming a 90-degree angle to the table base to create a round tea table made of two lustrous mahogany half circles.
The clean, symmetrical lines and curves, create a pleasing look, even though the overall design is quite complex. It would look great in a bedroom, hallway, or even sitting area.
