Late 19th Century WMF silver-plated brass egg cruet set. WMF is the abbreviation for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, which means Württemberg Metal Factory, a well-respected German silver company. An egg cruet set is typically a set of two or more egg cups with matching spoons. However, this spectacular cruet set is perfect for breakfast or brunch events. This lovely piece bares the hallmarks 'WMFM'. WMF is the abbreviation for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, which means Württemberg Metal Factory, created in 1880 in the small town of Geislingen. The "M" indicates it has a brass base. The silver plate marks are on the spoons and basket. The egg cups have some dents on the bottom rim. It has some light nicks and scratches but no missing pieces. There is some wear on the silver in some areas, But the brass that stands out is uniform and blends nicely.
