Description

This gorgeous, gilded oval mirror is surrounded by two flowering acanthus vines sprouting flowers on each side. If you start from the bottom, you will notice the two strands of vines, intertwining and blossoming upwards toward a bouquet of flowers with a beautiful Marianne Rose centered at the top, crowning the mirror. The acanthus leaf represents immortality and enduring life. Blossoms represent wealth in French culture. From 1870 to 1940, the Marianne Rose was an official symbol of France under the Third Empire. This beautiful mirror would bring elegance and sophistication to any room.

Condition

The gold leaf has some wear due to age. There are some scratches, nicks, and small wood separation throughout (see images). There are a few repairs on the acanthus leaf carvings on the top right and bottom left leg. Although not readily noticeable, the bottom left branch is slightly shorter than the right. Possibly, due to the tip breaking off. We will be happy to provide additional images upon request. This item will require special handling due to the thin and delicate nature of the carvings. 10 lbs.
